- unlike the other days of the year, being allowed to stay up late to welcome the arrival of a brand new year
- daddy blasting new year song at the wee hours of the morning waking the entire household
- a hot bowl of mee suah soup topped with a hard-boiled egg for chor yat breakfast
- rainbow colour helium balloons
- collecting and counting angpow money with a glee!
What Chinese New Year meant to me when i was 20...
- a chance to shop till i drop after spending the school holiday slogging in Fajar Supermarket
- putting on the what-i-thought-was-cool new year outfits and feel so glam about them
- hanging out with friends in noisy overcrowded places where you have to be yelled to be heard

What Chinese New Year means to me now that i am approaching 30...
- i guess now it simply means being HOME with those whom i love and who love me, unconditionally!
